Let’s start with knowing about Ijazah! Is it a certificate or a license?
Well, the Ijazah is more than a certificate or a license. It is a lifelong honour, a spiritual chain that connects you, word by word, to the noble companions, the righteous scholars, and ultimately to the Messenger of Allah, our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) himself. And that’s not all. It makes you connected to Allah SWT as you learn the Quran with sanad that ultimately reaches The Majestic!
When a student is granted an Ijazah, it means they have been deemed worthy to carry and transmit the sacred words of the Quran with precision, care, and trust. This tradition has been preserved generation after generation through a golden chain of verified reciters, and to be a part of it is one of the greatest honours a Muslim can attain.
Through this Ijazah Program, one doesn’t just study the Quran but gets to its living tradition. It is a golden opportunity to link oneself to the noblest sanad (chain of narration). And one becomes the part of a sacred trust passed down through centuries of hearts devoted to the Quran.
This path requires humility, commitment, and a deep love for the Quran. If your heart is moved by the idea of reciting the Quran to a scholar whose tutor’s tutor recited it to their tutor… all the way to the Prophet (PBUH), then this course is for you.
About The Course
This course is designed for students who are already proficient in Tajweed and have completed, or are close to completing, their memorization of the Quran.
Note: It is an Advanced Course.
It is not an introductory course, admission is subject to a formal evaluation to ensure that you are ready for the Ijazah journey.
You will:
- Review and solidify your memorization or recitation
- Recite the entire Quran from memory or Mushaf (depending on the type of Ijazah sought)
- Perfect your Tajweed to the level required for certification
- Learn the manners and responsibilities of a carrier of the Quran
- Understand the sanad system and the historical preservation of the Quran
Throughout the process, you will be guided with care and sincerity, not rushed or pressured, but supported in a way that honours the sacred nature of this journey by our eminent tutors.
How Do You Obtain the Ijazah
With Fussilat, you will study in a one-on-one classical setting, just as Ijazah has always been taught. Your tutor will be a qualified and certified educator, recognized to grant Ijazah with sanad. This journey is deeply personal, and so each student is given individual attention and flexibility.
Unlike modern academic models, this course is not built around grades, quizzes, or exams. Instead, the student offers their recitation of the entire Quran, either from memory for Hifz Ijazah, or from Mushaf for Riwayah Ijazah, in front of their tutor. Once the tutor is confident in your mastery and sincerity, they will grant you an Ijazah and formally record your place in the sanad.
How Is It Progressed?
Before beginning, each applicant will be evaluated carefully. If the tutor feels that the student needs more revision or preparation before beginning this advanced course, they will be kindly directed to another course until they are ready, In shaa Allah.
At Fussilat, we believe in upholding the dignity of the Quran. The Ijazah is not merely a goal but it is a reflection of your love, discipline, and humility before Allah’s words.
